This is an European style pheasant hunt. Shooters are positioned at twelve stations arranged in an oblong circle around the release tower from which 200 flight-conditioned Pheasants are released. Each station provides a different terrain view from open fields, rolling hills, and water. At each station ten pheasants are released and then shooters rotate to the next station until all stations have been shot. At the end of the shoot birds are divided among shooters while a field lunch is served. The Continental Pheasant Shoot simulates an European driven hunt consisting of pass shooting. Shots from all overhead angles are too be expected.
- Well trained dogs are used to retrieve birds. Those wishing to bring dogs MUST register them before the event.
- Registration begins at 11:00am. Shooting starts promptly at 12:00 noon.
- Coffee and snacks are provided and Lunch is served after shooting.
- Harvested birds are divided amongst all shooters.
- Slots are limited to the first 24 shooters.
- 200 pheasants will be released with 20 paid guns present. Otherwise 12 pheasants per gun will be released.
You will need a valid NJ hunting license, eye and ear protection, blaze orange, 3 or more boxes of #4 or #5 non-toxic shot shells. Haystacks Hunting Club is a non-toxic only club. Lead shot is not permitted. No shot larger than #4 steel permitted. We recommend a modified or full choked shotgun.
$175 per gun, $350 per station.
